Help strengthen health and safety assurance across Anchor.

We're looking for an experienced Health & Safety Management Systems Assurance Lead to help ensure our health and safety arrangements are effective, consistently applied and continually improving.

Working closely with our H&S Oversight and Assurance Manager and teams across Anchor, you'll take a hands-on, independent approach to auditing, evidence gathering and assessing how effectively health and safety risks are managed.

You'll play a key role in delivering our internal audit and assurance programme, identifying areas for improvement and providing clear, evidence-based findings to support safer environments for residents, colleagues and visitors.

What you'll be doing

  • Lead the planning and conducting risk-based health and safety audits across Housing, Care and Corporate services.
  • Assessing the effectiveness of our Health & Safety Management System against the principles and requirements of ISO 45001, the HSE’s HSG65 framework and relevant health and safety legislation.
  • Gathering and evaluating evidence to identify gaps, recurring issues and systemic risks.
  • Providing assurance across our key health and safety compliance areas, including the Big 6.
  • Producing clear audit reports and recommendations for operational teams, senior leaders and the Board.
  • Following up on audit findings to ensure corrective actions are effective and improvements are sustained.
  • Supporting continuous improvement and our readiness for future ISO 45001 certification.

What you'll bring

  • Significant experience in health and safety management systems, internal auditing or independent assurance within a large, complex organisation.
  • A NEBOSH National General Certificate or equivalent recognised qualification.
  • An ISO 45001 Lead Auditor qualification or equivalent recognised auditing qualification.
  • Proven experience planning and conducting internal, thematic or management system audits.
  • Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation, ISO 45001 and HSG65.
  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret evidence, identify trends and communicate findings clearly.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the confidence to constructively challenge existing practices.
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.

Experience within housing, care or another regulated, multi-site environment would be beneficial, alongside experience of ISO 45001 implementation or certification.
