The Council’s Parking Services team is a key frontline service within the Public Services Directorate and is responsible for managing both on-street and off-street parking across Calderdale. The service oversees a wide range of activities, including parking enforcement, operational management, and administrative functions and an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Technical Support Officer to join our existing team.
The successful candidate will support the full range of back-office functions within a busy operational parking service. The role will primarily involve the administration of Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) and parking permits. This includes the consideration of appeals and processing permit applications efficiently, accurately, and in accordance with relevant legislation, Council policies, procedures, and statutory timescales.
We are seeking candidates with experience of working in a busy customer-focused environment who can demonstrate excellent organisational, administrative, and communication skills. The successful candidate will be able to deal professionally, sensitively, and effectively with a wide range of customers and stakeholders, both verbally and in writing, often communicating complex or technical information in a clear and accessible manner.
Candidates should possess a proactive, flexible approach to work, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities. Knowledge of parking legislation, including the Traffic Management Act 2004, would be advantageous but is not essential, as training will be provided.
